Intro
Our collection of early printed books and manuscripts was mostly assembled in the first 170 years of the College's existence.
Our founder Bishop Fox's focus on humanist learning had a strong influence, and the trilingual library of Latin, Greek and Hebrew texts earned praise from Erasmus and others.
This older collection is currently stored separately from the original library building in air-conditioned strong rooms, along with the College's archives, but these will eventually be re-homed in the Spencer Building
Visiting researchers are able to consult the Special and Historic Collections in person, and are generally hosted in the Wolfson Special Collections Reading Room in the Spencer Building (we are, however, currently restricted as to the numbers we can admit).
