Library and Archives

Intro

The original library building dates from 1517 when Richard Fox, Bishop of Winchester, founded Corpus Christi, and it remains in use as the College Library today.

You will find the Library at the heart of the College, embodying our dedication to learning and research.

We tailor our collections and services to members’ needs, offering long opening hours and generous lending.

Our new modern library space, the Spencer Building opened in October 2024, and the historic library space re-opened early in 2025.  The Spencer Building will also be the long-term home for the College's archives, manuscripts and early printed books.

Please Note: Corpus Christi College Special Collection Centre is now closed to readers until the end of June 2026, and all access to the collections will remain extremely limited until Easter 2027.  During this time Library and Archives Staff will be undertaking the relocation of the special collections.  Therefore, we are not currently taking appointments.  There will also be delays with correspondence, and limitations as to how we can respond to research and reprographic enquiries.  Further information can be found on the pages below.  Please be aware that the library and archive email inboxes will not be monitored as frequently during this time.

Student voices

“The Library is one of the first things I would describe to a prospective student, and one of my favourite things about Corpus. I am so grateful to have this fantastic resource.”
