Hiya, I'm Chris and I have just finished my first year studying Materials Science at Corpus.

When applying for Universities, Oxford seemed quite unattainable, so I did an open application as I didn't expect to get in. I got assigned to Corpus which I now feel very fortunate about as it has been such a welcoming and fun college. It's known to be a super friendly college and this is especially true for Materials as we have such great Tutors in Pete and Dave who couldn't be more helpful and accommodating. This was such a relief for me as I was the only person from my school to go to Oxford so was nervous about making friends, but at Corpus it really has been effortless.

Materials Science was a Subject I only found out about relatively close to the time I had to apply but having taken some interest with smithing in the past, it resonated with me as soon as I read some books on the subject. I would say the course is engaging for anyone interested in Chemistry or Physics. While challenging at times it still manages to feel fresh, due to the multiple different teaching methods of labs, classes and tutorials.

Outside of my time studying I enjoy rowing for the college and as I am writing this, I am very excited for summer VIIIs in four days time. Corpus Boat Club has really positive vibes and is a testament to the overall atmosphere at Corpus.

The Corpus Library has left nothing to be desired for me when it comes to books for Materials Science and also has a cool historical aspect which definitely is part of the appeal of Oxford. Beyond Corpus you can access incredible places such as the Bodleian Library or the Radcliffe Camera which is something wholly unique to Oxford.

If you have any questions at all, shoot me an email and I will try and answer promptly.
