The College, the design team at architects Wright & Wright and the contractors Kingerlee Limited were delighted last week when the Spencer Building passed a rigorous pressure test, a significant milestone on its journey to passivhaus certification. Success was by no means a certainty as connecting a passivhaus build to an existing historic building has not, to our knowledge, been attempted in the UK before. After an anxious wait for the results, everyone at Corpus was thrilled with the positive outcome which leaves the College’s ambition to break new ground in this area very much intact and on target. The building will now continue with its internal fit out with a view to opening for student and archive use in Michaelmas Term 2024.
