Hi! I’m Lauren, a first year Law student at Corpus from Birmingham.

Before I came to Corpus, I was worried that there was a certain ‘type’ of Oxford person, and that I’d struggle to fit this mould. This just isn’t true! Corpus is a great community, filled with lots of different types of people.

One of the great things about Corpus is that you are a small college. This means that you get to know both your year and the years above you really well - college is full of friendly faces!

There are loads of clubs and societies at Corpus and they are all very open to new members! I personally play college netball (which I haven’t played since y10) and captain the Corpus Women’s Rugby Team (where everyone apart from me was a novice). People are very supportive of your extra-curricular habits; there is a very vocal Corpus corner of support at any sporting fixture!

Outside of Corpus, I play Blues Rugby and am currently the Blues Captain. Playing rugby has given me so many fantastic opportunities in my first year and I’ve made great friends throughout the Uni. I’d really recommend doing any university-wide activity as it’s a great way to make friends outside of Corpus. I have really loved my first year playing rugby!

The workload feels overwhelming at first, but it is very manageable. There is plenty of time for other activities, whether extra-curricular or social. Indeed, the law tutors at Corpus are really enthusiastic about encouraging you to make the most out of your experience at Corpus! Tutors are also very understanding when you are struggling to meet deadlines and will give you the support you need. The important thing to remember is that tutors are here to help you!

Overall, I have absolutely loved my time so far at Corpus! Please feel free to ask me any questions at all - just drop me an email. :)
