Play your part in the life of the Chapel.

We are always looking for volunteers to read lessons and lead intercessions.

If you'd like to contribute to Chapel life in this way, please contact the Chaplain.

Ecumenical outlook

The Chapel is home to a termly joint Roman Catholic Mass shared with Oriel College and a termly Christian Union service.

For more details, see the Term Card.

Faith resources

Corpus is a community enriched by the faith diversity of its members.

Oxford University has a range of chaplains and worshipping congregations representing all the major faiths.  Although an Anglican priest, the Chaplain is here to offer pastoral support to all members of the College and she can assist you with connecting with your faith community. Please contact the Chaplain

Multi-Faith Prayer Room

Corpus shares a multi-faith prayer room with our neighbour Merton College.  Corpus students can collect a fob for the room from the Merton porters. They may ask for Bod cards.

University-wide Faith Provision

The College Chapel is open to everyone, of any faith tradition, who would like to use it as a space for quiet, prayer or meditation.  If you would like to make use of the Chapel for collective worship other than the regular schedule of services or another group activity, the Chaplain will be happy to hear from you.  The College Chaplains work collegially with Chaplains from a range of denominations and faiths and meet together termly, as the Student Ministry Forum.  Across the University, there are vibrant student faith-based societies, some of which can direct you to towards dedicated spaces for corporate worship.

More information about faith societies and belief groups is available here.

Charity and civic involvement: act locally and globally

We collect donations at every service to support charities. These are announced at the beginning of each service and vary depending on what is happening in the world or in the local community.

The Oxford Gatehouse and the Oxford Winter Night Shelter

In Michaelmas and Hilary Terms, the Chapel collection and other fund-raising activities usually go to support the work of the Oxford Gatehouse and the Oxford Winter Night Shelter (OWNS). Both are locally-based charities, providing food, shelter and company for homeless people. From January to March each year, OWNS provides overnight accommodation.

Both charities are always looking for people who can commit a few hours a month. Find out how you can help at the Oxford Gatehouse and the  Oxford Winter Night Shelter.

Christian Aid

During Trinity term each year, Christian Aid Week takes place. At this time, we focus our attention on issues of global poverty and donate the Chapel collection to support CA's work.

Christian Aid was set up and is sponsored by an ecumenical range of UK churches. Its work is motivated by a vision that social justice is core to the Christian Gospel, and it's one of the UK’s most respected relief and development agencies.

The money it raises goes where it is needed, working in partnership with local people, regardless of nationality or faith.

Want to help out?

Ask the Chaplain how you can get involved with local voluntary organisations. Also, if you have suggestions around diversity, inclusivity, religious literacy, interfaith conversations, and the arts, do please reach out to the Chaplain.
