Prof Philip Hardie Ovid@2000 lecture

Professor Philip Hardie, Senior Research Fellow at Trinity College, Cambridge, and author of books and articles on Latin poetry and its reception, will deliver the annual lecture of the Corpus Christi College Centre for the Study of Greek and Roman Antiquity, as the Ovid @2000 Commemoration Lecture, at 5pm on Friday 3 March in the MBI Al Jaber Auditorium. The Lecture, entitled Ovidian Bodies, will look at bodies in Ovid as objects of desire, and as subjects of metamorphosis, violation, and torture. Professor Hardie will also discuss the post-antique reception of Ovidian bodies, in literature, art, and theatre, and conclude with examples of metamorphic bodies in Christian narratives and doctrine.
