In recognition of their generous intentions, all legators are invited to the annual Frost Society event. This year we will be holding a virtual lecture, which will be delivered by Professor Jaś Elsner, Humfry Payne Senior Research Fellow in Classical Archaeology and Art, on the subject of the rich history and beauty of Indian Buddhist art.

Professor Elsner will share his discoveries and insights into the spectacular art and religious significance of ancient Indian Buddhism.  His fascination with the rich history and beauty of Indian Buddhist art developed during the pandemic, and as the world began to reopen, he was able to visit the sites and remnants of ancient Buddhist art from the early centuries of the common era. Based on his forthcoming book, Amarāvatī: Art and Buddhism in Ancient India, his lecture will delve into the world he encountered on his journeys.

Members of the Frost Society will receive an afternoon tea box to enjoy during the lecture.
