Corpus Christi College Oxford

Corpus Christi College Teachers' Conference

Friday 22nd June 2012

Each year, Corpus Christi College holds a Teachers' Conference, funded by the Sutton Trust. The event, aimed at schools and colleges in our Regional Outreach areas and beyond, is open to all teachers and HE/careers guidance staff in the maintained sector who support pupils applying to university.

The conference gives teachers the opportunity to find out more about Oxford's undergraduate courses and admissions procedures and also enable our tutors to learn more about the perceptions and needs of those involved in preparing students for university.

The programme includes sessions on applying to Oxford and a mock Science and Arts interview, delivered by College Fellows, students and staff. We have also introduced a session on finance. Participants are offered lunch in our Dining Hall and are given the opportunity to have a look around the College and experience some of what Corpus has to offer.

A copy of this year's programme can be viewed here.

To book a place at the event, please email the Access and Admissions Officer.

Feedback from last year's event can be read below:

"Thank you so much for the really helpful and enjoyable conference. It has improved my confidence in offering advice to the sixth form immensely. I found watching the interviews inspiring as well as interesting and have immediately incorporated some of the styles of questions the tutors used into my own lesson plans. I think the day helped me to develop as a teacher as well as informing me about entrance procedures. I also felt the day was pitched very effectively... there was much that was explained that I did not know but at the same time I felt it was an effective introduction for anyone entirely unfamiliar with the University. Many thanks again - you must have worked so hard to achieve such seamless organisation!"

"The mock interviews were incredibly useful and informative, as was the Tutor Q&A. An excellent day which was well led. Information/communication in the lead up to the event was outstanding - many thanks!"

"Thank you for your efforts and those of your colleagues and the students. The day was very useful and has given me lots of ideas to try and put into practice. It was also good fun."

"Thanks for an excellent conference yesterday. It exceeded my expectations and that was also the feedback I got from the other delegates I spoke to. The organisation was also first class. It was an excellent day and was really well run. To see so many tutors/experts was a real bonus. It gave me a great insight into how our students would be considered when applying to Oxford and also how they would develop as undergraduates."
