The University of Heidelberg Prize for Classical Philology and Literary Theory

Dr Sebastian Matzner
, Junior Research Fellow in Classics, has been awarded the 2013 University of Heidelberg's Prize for Classical Philology and Literary Theory, for his PhD thesis on the literary trope metonymy. The three members of the jury paid tribute to the "impressive combination of precise textual analysis and theoretical ambition" of his study entitled ‘The Forgotten Trope: Metonymy in Poetic Action'.

The Prize, awarded for the sixth time, is a joint initiative of Heidelberg's Department of Classics and Winter, Heidelberg's University Press. The award comes with a prize of €1.500 and an offer of publication in Heidelberg's "Bibliothek der klassischen Altertumswissenschaften" series.
