Matriculation

 


The Matriculation Ceremony is compulsory for all freshers, excluding Visiting Students.


The Ceremony is on Saturday 20th October 2019 at 10.30am.


A group photograph will be taken after the ceremony at 12 noon and individual photos will be taken between 11 and 12. Assemble in the Hall for the group photograph. Timing of the photographs will be posted in due course.


You must assemble in the Quad at 9.45 to enable the Senior Tutor to do a roll call – do not leave the general quad/hall area.


At 10.00am process to the Sheldonian Theatre for the ceremony at 10.30am.


FULL ACADEMIC DRESS, I.E. SUB-FUSC WITH GOWN AND MORTAR-BOARD, MUST BE WORN.


Academic dress


The University rules with regard to academic dress at the Matriculation ceremony, University examinations and at presentation for a degree are as follows: One of dark suit with dark socks, or dark skirt with black tights or stockings, or dark trousers with dark socks. Dark coat if required; black shoes; plain white collared shirt or blouse; white bow tie, black bow tie, black full-length tie, or black ribbon.


Candidates serving in H.M. Forces are permitted to wear uniform together with a gown.


Dress should be such as might be appropriate for formal occasions. An academic cap and gown must be worn. (Women have a choice between a mortar-board or the old style women’s cap).


Students from previous Universities can wear the gown and hood of that Institution.
