Choir Tour to Cumbria June 2001
The choir set off from Corpus at 11am on Friday 22nd June, arriving in Ainstable around 4.30pm to a wonderful welcome of a high tea provided by the parishioners of the St Michael and all Angels Church. Saturday morning was spent rehearsing for the evening's concert at St James at Hutton-in-the-forest and the organist and organ scholar led an organ workshop for local organists in the Church of St Mary the Virgin, High Hesket in the afternoon. Choir members were fed by several local people from around Ainstable and the evening concert was performed at St James', Hutton-in-the-forest with both choral works and organ pieces.
Sunday morning saw the choir singing a sung eucharist service at St Michael's Church in Skelton (Corpus' living), followed by a wonderful lunch served by members and friends of that Church. The choir sang evensong at St Michael and all Angels, Ainstable on Sunday evening, moving on the the home of John and Anne Thorpe who provided a wonderful meal to prepare everyone for the journey home. Everyone was back in Corpus by 1.30am on Monday 25th June!
