Christian Aid Week 2012

13-20 May (4th Week)

Christian Aid is an ecumenical relief and development agency which works in partnership with local organizations and groups (both religious and non-religious) in the developing world. It is highly respected for its work among, and with, some of the world's poorest people, because it offers unconditional help to those who need it: Christian Aid lets the help do the talking - it never asks people to accept a religious message before the help is given: the relief of suffering is the Gospel, and it should never be seen as a means to the end of filling pews!

Christian Aid is concerned not only to address the effects of poverty, but its causes as well, and this year's slogan for Christian Aid Week is "Let's give the tools". Corpus has an impressive record in supporting this important work - we sent £845 last year, and usually we are one of the largest collegiate fund raisers for Christian Aid in the University. The money that we send does not come only from Chapel services: because Christian Aid does not apply any religious test to those whom it helps, its support comes from people with a wide spectrum of beliefs, and we are most grateful to all who join us in helping to bring new hope to communities all over the world.

More details about the organization can be found at www.christian-aid.org.uk.

The annual Christian Aid Week plays a critical part in the funding this vital and important work. Please give and if you would like to help with the collection in 4th Week (13th to 20th May), or in associated fund-raising activities, please have a word with the Chapel Wardens or the Acting Chaplain.

Join us this Christian Aid Week. Let's give the tools to help people in poverty out of poverty.
